George “Lee” Stephens, born in Coffey County, Kansas on January 3, 1958, died on April 18, 2024 after a long and heroic battle with cancer. Lee is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Susan Gentile Stephens, formerly of Naugatuck, his daughter Sarah daSilva Alicea, son-in-law Rosento Alicea, granddaughter Adriana Alicea, brother-in-law Francis Gentile, closest friend Matthew Raven (Marion) and many friends. We cannot forget his beloved dog and side kick, Wyatt. Lee was never alone in his battle. The strength and love of his family, including Wyatt, bolstered him throughout his illness, and surrounded him in their peaceful presence as he took his last breath. Lee was one of a kind: generous of his time and talents, kind to all and loved by many.
Lee was an avid fisherman and certified scuba diver who loved anything that involved water, animals and mechanics. He was a plastic mold technician for Custom Bottle of Naugatuck for over 25 years. Everyone that knew him, knew that he had the biggest heart and would help a complete stranger on the side of the road. He will be truly missed!
Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for Lee and his family throughout this difficult journey of grief. A celebration Of Life service will take place at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or an animal charity of choice are truly appreciated.
The family would like to deeply thank all the medical staff at Midstate Medical Center, particularly those involved with his treatment, including the oncology department and critical care ICU.
