John F. Szyndlar, 83, of Prospect, surrounded by family passed away on September 23, 2020 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Lorraine (Moniz) Szyndlar for 62 years. He was born on November 20, 1936 in New Bedford, MA son of the late Frank and Josephine (Widuch) Szyndlar. After high school, John served in the Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Pratt and Whitney for over 40 years. John is survived by two sons John F. Szyndlar, Jr. and wife Lisa of Plymouth and James Szyndlar and companion Amy Wilt of Prospect, two sisters Mary Pyzik of New Bedford, MA and Frances Jackson of Winchester, VA and a brother Stanley Szyndlar of Concord, NH, nine grandchildren Zachary, Jacob, Marshal, Mitchell, Samuel, Mark, Donna, Chase and Kevin, eight great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer Szyndlar and his grandson Matthew. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 29 at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect. Military Honors will be accorded following John's funeral mass. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd, Prospect. The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers Dana and Britnee.
